Mark Bowes-Cavanagh
CEOMark founded ADSL as a consultancy company in 2008, after spotting a gap in the UK cosmetics market for somewhere that could offer the breadth of services covered by ADSL under one roof. Since then, Mark has concentrated on recruiting excellent staff across the board and ADSL is now approved by all major UK retailers to provide CPSRs and further support services. Mark is very hands on in the business and after 24 years in the cosmetics industry has expertise himself in formulating, regulatory, technical and ingredient aspects. Mark loves seeing customers and solving the day-to-day challenges that running a business throws up – but most of all getting great feedback . Fun fact: Mark once, on a business trip in Hong Kong, ended up in a bar with seven former Liverpool (who he supports) Football Players and played with them in a seven-a-side match!
Claire Bowes-Cavanagh
Operations ManagerClaire is in charge of supporting senior management and the directors in the accounting and operations of the business. She has a proven track record of managing complex operations from her work in the food retail sector and has been successful in delivering time-critical projects. Claire’s line management experience working in manufacturing environments means she understands the importance of working as a team and the quality assurance this delivers. This translates to a genuine commitment to providing exemplary customer service. She manages the implementation of projects and the systems that support ADSL’s core business. Claire describes herself as enthusiastic, collaborative, self-motivated, and eager to take on new and diverse projects.
John Dean Jnr
Office ManagerJohn followed his dad to the company in August 2013. He came over from Mayfield manufacturing labs, attracted by the coast and different role available to him. John manages a lot of incoming workflow and generates CPSR reports. He’s constantly in contact with customers, collating and relaying information for projects and reports. A jack of all trades, he’s even been known to dip back into the labs and help out when they need an extra pair of hands. John loves getting completed, detailed briefs from customers, with no follow ups necessary, especially if he’s worked with them before. Fun fact: John’s also a keen drummer and was the year below Joss Stone at school!
Charlotte Priestman
Senior Microbiologist
Charlotte joined ADSL in August 2014 after relocating to Devon from Greater London. Before joining ADSL, Charlotte spent six years in a senior role at a contract pharmaceutical laboratory, following an earlier position in a geotechnical engineering laboratory. With 11 years of experience in the microbiology lab at ADSL, she helped the department initially gain its UKAS 17025 accreditation. She now assists with a range of tasks, including testing, quality assurance, training, reporting, and assisting Jake with the day-to-day running of the lab. Fun fact: In her youth, Charlotte did a lot of dancing and once performed in a charity dance show in Staines alongside some well-known EastEnders stars!
Erin Robinson
Derma Centre CoordinatorErin joined ADSL in March 2020 after completing an Extended Diploma in Public Services. After initially wanting to pursue a career within the Army, an opportunity arose to join the team here at ADSL as a Laboratory Technician. Erin stayed in this role for 3 1/2 years growing customer relationships, before taking a job in the Derma Centre department. Erin enjoys the vast variety of different responsibilities within her role but particularly appreciates speaking with customers, organising trials and recruiting panelists to fit customer demographics. Fun Fact: Erin is a keen horse rider and often takes part in equestrian events.
Jake Robinson
Microbiology ManagerJake undertook 2 years of work placements at ADSL before joining full time in 2019. Jake’s background is in Pharmacology having completed a degree in the field at university which has prepared him perfectly for his position within ADSL. The role combines a very diverse range of practices which cover clinical, practical and theoretical aspects of science. Jake enjoys the interesting variety of work and the responsibility that comes with it.
Andy Bullen
Health & Safety Manager & Safety AssessorAndy manages key client accounts at ADSL, provides expert regulatory advice, coordinates the creation of CPSR reports with the team, and serves as the Health & Safety Manager for the site. Outside of work, he’s a keen beekeeper with two hives in his garden and admits to spending far too much time on the golf course.
Lynsey Hutton
Technical Administrator
Lynsey Hutton has over 10 years’ experience in compliance within the financial services industry. After taking time out to be a mum, she transitioned into the cosmetics industry as a Technical Administrator at ADSL, where she applies her compliance expertise to support regulatory processes, documentation, and day-to-day operations. She plays a key role in ensuring accuracy and consistency across projects, helping the team maintain high standards in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Known for being detail-oriented, organised, and adaptable, Lynsey approaches her work with a structured and practical mindset.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time back home in Scotland, holidays in Cornwall, and skiing in the Canadian mountains (or at least giving it a good try). She values time with family and making the most of opportunities to travel and unwind.
Fletcher Buckland
Technical Assistant and Customer Service
Fletcher’s professional journey began in the care sector, where he spent several years supporting people with learning disabilities. This experience developed his adaptability, strong communication skills, and ability to remain calm under pressure—qualities that have proven invaluable in his role as a Technical Assistant and Customer Service support at ADSL. In this position, he works closely with both clients and the technical team, assisting with day-to-day enquiries, supporting project delivery, and helping to ensure a smooth and responsive service experience.
He has thoroughly enjoyed the transition into the technical space and values the opportunity to work within a forward-thinking company. Fletcher takes pride in being part of a collaborative team that thrives on innovation and technical precision, while continuing to build his knowledge and contribute to the high standards expected at ADSL.
Natalie Stockman
R&D Technician
Natalie is a dedicated Research and Development Technician in the cosmetics industry, working hands-on in the laboratory to formulate innovative, high-quality products that meet both consumer expectations and industry standards. She is committed to advancing the development of safe, effective, and trend-led cosmetic solutions. Driven by a passion for continuous learning and creative problem-solving, Natalie consistently stays ahead of industry trends and contributes meaningfully to the success of every project she undertakes.
Outside of her professional work, Natalie is an avid basketball player, a pursuit that has strengthened her teamwork, strategic thinking, and resilience. She also enjoys the art of origami, appreciating it as a balance of precision and creativity—qualities that closely align with her analytical mindset and attention to detail in the lab.
Jehan Rajah
Compliance ManagerAfter completing a bachelor’s degree in cosmetic science Jehan has gone on to work for some of the most well-known brands in the industry. Having gained deep industry knowledge from working with complex supply chains and global marketing distribution, Mark one day asked him if he wanted to join ADSL and the rest is history! Providing expert cosmetic regulatory advice and supporting brands in their journey to success is the goal now. Outside of work Jehan travels (with a dog in tow), reads, hikes and plays board and computer games.
Jigna Patel
Regulatory SpecialistAs a Regulatory Specialist, I help ensure that cosmetic products meet the right safety, labeling, and regulatory standards so they can be launched with confidence. I’m passionate about simplifying the often complex regulatory process and guiding brands through the nuances of compliance, from product formulation to final approval. My goal is to help businesses navigate the legal landscape seamlessly, ensuring their products are safe, effective, and market-ready. Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors and trying new things, whether it’s hiking through new trails or learning pottery.
Sanjog Dabholkar
Analytical Chemist
Sanjog joined ADSL in March 2024 and plays a key role in the analytical team, specialising in CBD testing, residual solvents, and heavy metal analysis. With a background in Pharmaceutical Analysis with Management, he brings expertise in advanced analytical techniques to ensure the highest standards of product safety and compliance. His experience in proficiency testing, UKAS internal audits, and drafting SOPs makes him a key player in maintaining high analytical and regulatory standards.
Fun Facts: Sanjog enjoys playing cricket and taking peaceful walks by the sea in his free time.
Hannah Folland
Derma LeadHannah joined ADSL in 2019 after 10 years in retail management. Her previous experience was in a performance-driven environment but she really enjoys being part of a team and leading by example. Hannah’s role within the DermaCentre places her perfectly in the middle of a community of individuals ADSL work with for clinical evaluation activity, as well as clients who want to complete regulatory requirements concerning objective claim data. She enjoys the variety of the job, from study protocols through to collation of Product Information Files. Fun fact: Hannah is a keen amateur runner.
Victoria Stoate
Brand Lead – Consumer & Clinical EvaluationsVictoria joined ADSL in the Summer of 2024 as Brand Lead – Consumer and Clinical Evaluations; she has 15+ years of experience in market research, marketing, and cosmetics. She is passionate about the fast paced and indulgent world of self-care; as well as consumer opinion, and the experiential value of cosmetic products. Loves collaborating with colleagues and clients, harnessing research to boost commercial success in the marketplace. In-depth knowledge on formulas, ingredients, product niches; and an eye on future trends. Her mission is to promote the transformation of research data into marketing assets and social media content to engage target audiences with product benefits. She has a 360 degree view of the cosmetics industry having worked with different types of companies such as; market research houses, PR agencies, manufacturers, brand management, and social media. Her interest in marketing led her to complete a Business Studies degree in Nottingham; and specialist courses whilst studying in Paris for a Masters of International Marketing and MBA in Communications. During her career, she has advised on big picture strategic direction for global beauty companies, as well as partnered with entrepreneurs on their new and exciting launches. Victoria is an avid appreciator of cosmetic products and SPA treatments; she is active on social media, reading magazine articles, and shopping to stay current. Through conversation, consultations, writing and design; the understanding and quality of Consumer and Clinical Evaluation research and their outputs can be enhanced. Fun fact; Victoria loves keeping active and greatly appreciates nature; regularly going on hikes, swimming, playing tennis, skiing in the winter, and paddle boarding in the Summer.
Carisse Bowes-Cavanagh
Laboratory & Clinical AssistantAs a Laboratory & Clinical Assistant in the DermaCentre, I play an important role in ensuring the seamless operation of our diagnostic processes and clinical procedures. With a strong commitment to precision and accuracy, I meticulously handle laboratory samples, conduct tests, and assist in clinical settings to support the team My dedication to the field of dermatology comes from a genuine desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives. I find fulfilment in being part of a collaborative environment where cutting-edge research intersects with patient care.
Clare Lewandowski
Trainee MicrobiologistClare is a motivated trainee microbiologist at ADSL, specialising in diagnostic microbiology. With a Cert HE in Biosciences, she brings a strong academic foundation and hands-on laboratory experience to her role. At ADSL, she contributes to research and development efforts, gaining practical skills in microbial testing and analysis. Passionate about healthcare innovation, Clare is dedicated to making meaningful contributions to the field.
Josh Hodder
Microbiology TechnicianJosh is a skilled and detail-oriented microbiology technician at ADSL, specialising in laboratory testing and analysis. Josh possesses a solid understanding of microbiological principles and laboratory techniques and plays a vital role in conducting microbiological assays, performing quality control checks, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results. His meticulous approach and commitment to excellence contribute to the high standards maintained at ADSL. In addition to his technical expertise, Josh is known for his teamwork and communication skills, collaborating effectively with colleagues and supervisors to meet project deadlines and objectives. Research & Development TechnicianMarcus is a passionate and results-driven Research & Development Technician with a wealth of expertise in cosmetic product formulation and testing within our industry. His proficiency in conducting thorough research, analysing data, and implementing innovative solutions has been instrumental in propelling our product development initiatives forward. Marcus excels in collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with our company’s objectives, and staying abreast of industry trends to guarantee the highest quality and efficacy of our cosmetic products.
Steven Henderson
Finance & AccountsWith 16 years’ experience as a Practice Accountant, Steven joined ADSL as the Internal Accountant in 2019. Steven has known Mark and Claire for many years and is a dynamic addition to the team. Steven oversees the financial and accounts aspects of the business. A hands on, transparent and approachable individual, Steven is focused on delivering a reassuring influence to each and every one of our customers. Fun fact: Steven was, at one time, the youngest person in the UK to achieve a red kruang-ruang (equivalent to black belt) in Muay Thai.

Sales AdministrationLiam is an experienced sales and administrative professional at a leading pharmaceutical lab, where he plays a key role in driving business growth and supporting efficient operations. With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to exceptional service, Liam is dedicated to fostering strong client relationships and ensuring smooth administrative processes within the lab. Outside of work, Liam is passionate about cars, always eager to explore the latest trends in the automotive world. Whether attending car shows or diving into vehicle mechanics, Liam brings the same enthusiasm and drive to their personal interests as they do to their professional career. Fun fact: Liam once had the opportunity to meet Liam Gallagher briefly after a tour, adding a bit of rock ‘n’ roll flair to their life experience.
