Formulation & Development
We provide ground-up development of cosmetic, household and food products as well as troubleshooting and improvement of existing formulations. All in accordance with any relevant territory regulations. Working from our leading edge lab facilities, our role is to help you to turn your product ideas into a ready- to-manufacture reality.
This will mean different things to the various clients we partner with. Full support would involve us taking your initial concept or idea and developing a formulation from the ground up to meet your brief. We have experience with a wide range of cosmetic and household products, including sun skincare, hair care, cleaning solutions, candles, fragrances, and supplements. We are capable of working with specialist formulations suitable for infant skin, vegans, or for application to sensitive areas such as the eyes. Need a Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR)? Our experienced compliance team enables full safety and toxicological reviews in line with the relevant territorial regulations and authorities. And we carry out ingredient evaluation using in-house NOAEL and SED databases so you can be assured of accurate Margin of Safety calculations with the requisite supporting evidence.
Microbiological & Laboratory Testing
Our ISO 17025 accredited UK microbiological and laboratory facility leads the way. It is fully equipped to assist with a host of testing from BP/EP preservative efficacy testing, through biocidal testing and hygiene controls, and much more. Our state of the art laboratory undertakes a variety of analytical testing including heavy metals by ICP-MS, cannabinoids by HPLC, alcohol assay testing by FTIR and terpenes, residual solvents and 1,4-dioxane testing by GC-MS.

If you are looking to have a presence in the UK or EU we offer product notification to the SCPN (UK) and the CPNP (EU), as well as a Responsible Person service via our offices in England and the Republic of Ireland. If you’re developing a cosmetic product you’ll be familiar with the idea of product testing and clinical trials. In fact, any claims you make about the effectiveness of your product will need to be substantiated in order to meet local regulations such as Commission Regulation (EU) No 655/2013 in the EU.
At our UK DermaCentre we use state of the art technology to measure a range of parameters. From patch testing, validation of claims such as “dermatologically approved”, through to skin moisture and TEWL assessments, erythemal index and melanin testing, SPF, elasticity and sebum assessments, we have a host of options to answer your product research and validate your claims. What’s more, we’re investing heavily in our testing capacity to keep it up to date and growing to meet the needs of future consumers.
